Wednesday Vignette: It's the little things...

About a week ago, I uploaded photos from my camera onto my PC and found this:

The photo of my cat, Pipig, resting on a folded tree skirt, enjoying the morning sun and the Christmas tree, still nearly bare at that point, was taken early one morning by my husband.  He didn't mention it to me but left me to find the photo on my own.  The cat's utter contentment (note those back paws dangling in the air!) is one of those little things that reminds me that joy can be found in the minutia of ordinary life.  And, as delighted as I was by the picture itself, I was equally stirred by the fact that my husband took the time to take the photo solely to make me happy.

This is my contribution to the Wednesday Vignette, hosted by Anna of Flutter & Hum.  Follow Pipig's example and take some time to enjoy the warmth of the sun as the days begin to lengthen again following the winter solstice! And merry Christmas to those of you celebrating the holiday!

  1. Oh, that is a wonderful photo and reminder! Pipig (great name, btw :) ) has life's secrets down, it seems. I often look to our cat for reminders of what it's really all about. Have a very Merry Christmas, Kris!

    1. You're one of the very few that recognizes the meaning of my cat's name, Anna. When I got her from a rescue group, her only vocalizations were little squeaks. Now that my other cat is gone and she's queen of the household, she talks all the time!

    1. Although I'm not thrilled when she chooses to sit on my pillow and lick my face at 4am, Pipig's presence in our household is otherwise a source of happiness.

  3. That's so lovely. A cat will always find the most comfortable place in the house.
    Merry Christmas Kris.

    1. It takes relatively little to make a cat happy, Jessica. We can all learn about contentment from cats.

  5. I love this photo of Pipig, what a cool and thoughtful thing for your husband to do. Pipig looks so relaxed, unlike the rest of us humans at this time of year, running around like maniacs.

    1. For Pipig, Christmas is all about the tree. Oh, and occasionally ribbons.

  6. That's wonderful and so special! Love those back feet and the curl to the back ;-) Our dogs aren't so limber, but they do a similar job of keeping humans apprised of the important things in life! Have a great holiday, Kris!

    1. That's a cat's purpose in life - to show us how to relax.
