    1. I haven't noticed any prominent scent from my ornamental pear blooms (or the neighbor's blooms shown in the 4th photo). These trees are always harbingers of spring here, however they're VERY early this year.

  2. We've been having lows near freezing, which slowed things down. As much as I dislike cold, I do like it when the weather does what it is "supposed" to do normally. I'm not ready for spring.

    1. These trees always bloom early but I checked my record for the last 5 years. It bloomed later every one of those years. 2022 was the closest but it was still 2 weeks later then and in 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025 it was a month or longer later. My neighbors' trees (4th photo) bloomed in late December! It's a little scary but maybe it's just a blip.

  3. Probably because of the good rain in Oct, Nov, & Dec. Still time for winter to return with rain. Here's hoping!!

    1. I've got my fingers crossed on more rain before the season's over too. Weather Underground shows very little chance of anything in the next 10 days. AccuWeather shows a possibility (55-60%) in early February but those projections aren't reliable.

  4. So nice seeing blooming trees, a sight I'll have to wait at least three more months for. Early spring for you - I'll hope for an early spring for us in the Southern Tier of New York, too.

    1. Fingers crossed for an early start to spring for you too, Alana. By my calculations based on the 5 years of prior blooms for this tree, we're close to a month ahead of schedule. And our current temperature is 80F, which is way too warm and hopefully just a short-term anomaly.
