Some of you may be getting tired of seeing photos of the succulents in the bed on the south side of my garden but a sunny morning following a rainy day left my
'Blue Glow' Agaves and the plants surrounding them, yes, glowing and a couldn't resist sharing my photos.

| Last year, I planted 2 small pots of Aeonium atropurpurea 'Zwartkop' behind the 3 Agaves for the express purpose of picking up that red edge along their leaves |

| The spiky plant behind the Aeonium is Dasylirion longissimum. The purple-leafed plant to its left is Vitex trifolia 'Purpurea' (aka Arabian lilac). |

ReplyDeleteThis mostly succulent bed seems to be getting better each year. Of course, the time will come when all those 'Blue Glow' Agaves bloom - hopefully not all at the same time!

DeleteThis is actually one of my favorite combinations in your garden and I never get tired of seeing it. 'Blue Glow' is well-named and the purple Aeonium makes it even better. Gorgeous!
ReplyDelete'Blue Glow' was my first agave. I went a little crazy buying nearly a dozen in total early on when they were still being sold in 6-inch pots at prices that didn't make you choke. Times have changed! Replacing them when they eventually bloom may be painful, especially if they all pop off on a similar schedule.
DeleteI always love seeing other peoples gardens. I never tire of seeing the agaves etc that grow in your area that I can't grow. You write something different about them each time and present the beautifully. Meanwhile I dab the drool and check the envy. ;)

ReplyDeleteI haven't previously had a great track record with the 'Zwartkop' Aeonium but these seem to be relatively happy so perhaps I finally found the right spot for them.
