It looked as though rain was falling somewhere out in the distance |
Jane, who blogs at Close to Home, published her own photos of gray clouds yesterday but she got a few honest-to-goodness sprinkles. I was gone most of the afternoon but my weather station recorded no measurable rain and the late afternoon sky was clear.
At least some of the usual gray smudge along the horizon dissipated |
A few stray clouds to the northeast turned a pretty pink as the sun set but that's all we got from the system that blew through.
This series of harbor views is my Wednesday Vignette. Visit Anna at Flutter & Hum to see what images caught her fancy and that of other participants.

No rain maybe, but beautiful clouds. We could do with a bit of rain too. The temperature has been in the 30s for the last couple of days, which is unheard of here at this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteWeather extremes do seem to be more and more prevalent. We're expected to be back to 86F/30C+ ourselves next week.
DeleteI don't know if it was...but your afternoon shot looks lovely and temperate.
ReplyDeleteIt was actually very cool (for us) yesterday - our high temp was 68F. Today was pretty much the same.
DeleteI hate it when clouds tease you like that. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to the first real rain of the fall!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I'm hoping the forecasters are as bad at predicting the rainfall for SoCal in the upcoming La Nina year as they were in predicting the El Nino downpours.
DeletePretty shots and I hope you get rain soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope so too but I haven't even been able to bring myself to look at the long-range rain projections yet. Since hearing references to La Nina I've stuck my head in the sand.
DeleteIt was a pretty tease :)
ReplyDeleteI feel for you Kris; you have been waiting all year for some serious rain and unfulfilled promised just make it worse. At least the slightly lower temperatures help. I have to smile at British gardeners who 'need rain after 5 dry days or if the temperatures sore into the high 20's°C. I think if you haven't experienced drought and high temperatures together it is very had to imagine what it is like; I know I didn't understand until I moved to Italy.
ReplyDeleteThat view is amazing whatever the weather! I'm sorry that you missed out on your rain. If only we could all have just the right heaviness of rain at night (not at weekends when we want garden parties, obviously) and sun-filled days with our own temperature and humidity setting. On those days when we need to get on with indoorsy tasks, the setting can be changed to 'undesirable weather'. Sadly we don't get any of this, and I have a sneaking suspicion that if we did, we would miss the challenge of gardening with the elements. I hope the rain comes soon for you.
ReplyDeleteRealistically, we can't expect any rain until November but hope springs eternal, Sarah. Last year's winter rains were a small fraction of our "normal" levels and, in our 5th year of drought, we're more than ready for a change.
